Speak in Tones was a project developed by the multi percussionist Daniel Moreno and Mike Ellis in the Tribeca Walker Stage from 2002 to 2004 in NYC. Regarded by many as the last wild Jam Session of NYC, the Speaking Tones nights produced some of the greatest improvisational sounds of that decade.

Every night was blessed with the intervention of amazing musicians like   who were recorded live. Nowadays hundreds hours of recorded performances are been mastered and edited by Daniel Moreno and collaborators like Cheick Tidiane Seck who are to compile the best of the Speaking Tones encounters.

About the video

After a nearly two year stint (2002-2004) at the New York underground haven 56 Walker Street with top modern jazz, world, African, and Latino musicians, we were invited through contacts of Daniel Moreno's to the Mercado Cultural in Salvador do Bahia which was followed by a recording produced by Mike Ellis also in Salvador, this recording is result of three years of collaboration.
